  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture (preferably specialization in building science/ sustainable architecture/ environmental planning)
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience  in building design and preferably site supervision
  • Good understanding and experience of the design and construction practices in Nepal
  • Basic understanding of building physics 
  • Familiarity with green buildings, energy efficient / green building products and technologies 
  • Should be proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project or equivalent
  • Ability to travel within Nepal 20-30 percent of the time


  • Assist in planning baseline surveys to evaluate operational and embodied energy used in buildings in Nepal
  • Develop manuals, guidelines, training packages, case studies etc. for energy efficient building design, resource-efficient materials 
  • Lead the organization of design charrettes (or 3-4 day intensive design workshops) with builders, architects, HVAC engineers etc. to design energy efficient and thermal comfort buildings
  • Develop and carry out training programs for different building sector stakeholders
  • Assist in conducting simulation studies of current and future building designs
  • Participate in on-site monitoring and carry out performance monitoring of buildings 
  • Collaborate with local government units to develop policy document to promote energy-efficiency building design
  • Engage with relevant government partners, real estate developers, builders, building materials promoters, donors, implementers, and other stakeholders active in building construction sector
  • Prepare terms or references, agreement for implementing partners and manage selected implementing partners 
  • Document lessons learned and assist / advice MEAL officer in tracking project indicators 
  • Work with the program management team for coordination, planning, writing and timely submission of key strategic documents, such as the annual plans, budgets, reports, and other ad-hoc strategy documents
  • Represent project at conferences, round-tables, committees or working groups as assigned by the Team Leader
  • Perform other functions as required and directed by the Team Leader
